Family Theatre

NCShakes’ Family Theatre season makes A Christmas Carol and other wonderful productions available to families throughout the state and region. Unfortunately, performing arts activities for the entire family continue to be scarce. This makes The Festival’s Family Theatre season very special; it offers parents and children the uncommon opportunity to spend quality time together. A fable, history, science fiction - who knows what the next Family Theatre production will be? All you need to know is that The Festival is playing again!

A Christmas Carol

Since 1977, NCShakes' MainStage season has been entertaining students and citizens throughout our region and state with outstanding quality productions of the world’s greatest classics, particularly the plays of William Shakespeare, the world’s most popular playwright.

Over 160 productions of plays by Shakespeare, Moliere, Sheridan, Shaw and others have been produced on the MainStage at The High Point Theatre. Many of these plays have subsequently toured to colleges, universities and civic centers statewide.

The magnitude and spectacle of the classics distinguish the MainStage season. Large cast productions featuring trained, professional actors in exquisite costumes and inspiring settings power the MainStage. These productions attract hearty, adventurous audiences of students and citizens from large and small communities throughout our great state.

Unfortunately, state budget cuts have led NCShakes to cancel the 2011 Mainstage Season. You can read more about this here. NCShakes invites you to experience its MainStage season upon its upcoming return. Discover for yourself why NCShakes is recognized as one of "the finest theatres in the South, perhaps the nation."
