NCShakes Now Booking Spring 2014 Shakespeare To Go Tour

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival is now booking for the spring 2014 tour of its popular Shakespeare To Go program, designed to introduce student audiences of all ages to the works of the world’s greatest playwright.

Shakespeare To Go brings a team of actors to schools and communities throughout North Carolina to present condensed, interactive, high-energy versions of Shakespeare plays. The actors can also conduct workshops with students as part of half-day or all-day residencies. The program has sold out in each of the last two years, so educators are encouraged to book early.

This year’s tour is sponsored in part by Coca Cola Consolidated, GSK and Wells Fargo, with additional support from Bandwidth and Robinson Bradshaw and Hinson.

Between February and May, 2014, Shakespeare To Go will present:

Hamlet Grades 6-12, 60 Minutes.
This energetic telling of Shakespeare's most famous tragedy uses only his original language, including Hamlet's famous soliloquy.

The Comedy of Errors Grades 4-8, 45 Minutes.
It's a classic story of mistaken identity instantly recognizable to anyone who's seen a TV sitcom - and so funny and fresh, students will be surprised it's Shakespeare.

NCShakes has educated North Carolina students with professional productions of the world’s great plays for 36 years and played a leading role in providing high quality artistic and educational opportunities throughout the state.

Due to financial challenges this fiscal year, NCShakes has limited operations to producing Shakespeare To Go and other educational programs. After achieving this objective, it will explore the resumption of its traditional calendar of performances during 2014-2015.
