Simon Jewelers Signs On as NCShakes Friends Lounge Season Sponsor

High Point-based Simon Jewelers and the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival will partner to promote the festival’s 35th anniversary season in 2012-13.

Simon Jewelers will sponsor the Friends Lounge at all performances of the MainStage production in September and A Christmas Carol in December at the High Point Theatre. The Friends Lounge is open one hour prior to each performance and during intermission to Friends of NCShakes, the festival’s donor society, offering complimentary snacks and beverages.

Additionally, Simon Jewelers will donate display space in its store on Main Street in High Point for promoting NCShakes programming, including productions and SummerStage, the festival’s annual series of summer day camps. Simon Jewelers will also have a display in the lobby of the High Point Theatre during NCShakes performances.

The partnership is part of Simon Jewelers’ long record of supporting the arts and community groups, such as the Theatre Art Galleries, High Point Arts Council and the United Way of Greater High Point.

“Working with NCShakes is in keeping with what we’ve tried to do as a business since we opened in High Point in 1988,” said owner Gary Simon. “We want to be involved in the community that supports us as a business and to promote anything that improves the quality of life in this area.”

“We’re very supportive of the arts, and Shakespeare is very important to me personally,” Simon continued. “I’ve been to several NCShakes productions over the years, and I’m thrilled to see what’s going on there today. There’s a positive momentum at the Shakespeare Festival right now, and we wanted to be a part of that.”

Wil Elder, NCShakes president and CEO, said, “NCShakes is grateful that such a long-successful High Point business like Simon Jewelers has signed on to be the first sponsor of our Friends Lounge and to promote our programs in their store. We’re proud to have been a part of the fabric of High Point for over three decades and we look forward to our 35th season of productions at the High Point Theatre.”
