NCSF's
mission is to entertain, educate and enrich the life of North
Carolina students and citizens with quality professional productions
of the world's great plays, and with in-school and life-long
learning opportunities.
NCSF attracts the highest caliber actors, directors, designers
and technicians from all over the United States. NCSF is associated
with Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional
actors and stage managers, and operates under an agreement
between the union and The League of Resident Theatres.
NCSF is in the midst of a $3 million capital campaign,
the first in NCSF history, to create Spirit Center, a 51,000
sq. ft two-building performing arts campus located at the
corner of W. Ward Avenue and Green Street in downtown High
Point. The 31,000 sq. ft Production Place includes the Renaissance
Learning Center, two rehearsal halls, and scene, costume and
properties shops. The 15,000 sq.ft Outreach Place includes
administrative offices for staff, directors, designers and
outreach program leaders.
Spirit Center opens this year. Not only will it serve as The Festival's central operations facility - one of the finest among proefessional theatres in the nation - but it will also house the company's burgeoning Outreach Education program that will present inspiring and educational camps, workshops, classes and seminars for students and citizens statewide. Spirit Center's name says it all - great theatre and great theatre programs ennoble life, bring out the best in us all and buoy the human spirit!
NCSF's commitment to statewide service and artistic achievement
has earned it the designation, The State Shakespeare Festival.
It stands as a shining example of how a well-run arts organization
can contribute to the cultural, educational and economic health
of a community. NCSF gratefully acknowledges the North Carolina
General Assembly for this recognition and for its vital funding
support. NCSF also thanks all those who purchase tickets and
contribute generously to its mission. |

Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day High Point's Ben & Jerry's will celebrate the world-renowned company's annual Free Cone Day on April 29, from noon to 8:00 PM. The Festival is one of the beneficiaries of contributions that devoted ice cream lovers may make as they indulge in a free cone of what many claim to be America's finest ice cream. High Point's Ben & Jerry's is located at the Palladium at Deep River near the intersection of Eastchester Drive and Wendover Avenue. The other beneficiary of Free Cone Day will be Habitat for Humanity of High Point, Archdale and Trinity. Together with NCSF, Habitat will man the counter at Ben & Jerry's and will serve free mouth-watering scoops of the most exciting ice cream anyone has ever tasted. NCSF plans to dedicate proceeds from Free Cone Day to its Outreach Education programs. Like Ben & Jerry's, NCSF is passionate about enriching educational opportunities for youth. Mark your calendar for April 29. All hail Free Cone Day!
