Two Sessions of Acting Training
for Serious Theatre Students, Ages 12-18




Choose Your Camp Session:

SESSION I: July 18-22, 9:00-4:00
SESSION II: July 25-29, 9:00-4:00

Each week-long session will feature training in acting, voice, scenework and Shakespeare performance.  Students will also attend master classes in subjects such as stage combat, movement, voice and physical comedy.  Each session will culminate in a Showcase performance, open to parents and friends, designed to spotlight the skills learned by the student actors during the week.

If you are a student and want to take your theatre training to the next level, then sign up today for NCShakes’ Camp Shakespeare.  Space is limited to 12 young actors per session to ensure the highest quality work.  The application deadline, space allowing, is June 18.

shakecamp Young Actors at Work: Camp Shakespeare will take place at the NCShakes Spirit Center campus, located at 807 West Ward Avenue in High Point.  Enjoying summer camp activities in this safe and beautiful location will be a highlight of every young actor’s camp experience.

Michael HuieNCShakes Outreach & Education Director Michael Huie is an actor, writer and teacher. Most recently he was seen as Scrooge in NCShakes’ production of "A Christmas Carol". As a professional actor he has worked in regional theatre in North Carolina and Virginia and has appeared in movies for CBS and TNT. He was named "best actor" by the Richmond Times-Dispatch for his portrayal of Biff in "Death of a Salesman" in 1994. He played the title role in "Hamlet" in 2000 at Wake Forest University as part of an international Shakespeare symposium and for the re-opening of the Ring Theatre. He was also a member of the NCShakes company from 1990 to 1992. In addition, Huie is the author of three plays - "Jack", "3 Hats" and "The Houdini Show". His one-man show, "Jack", was performed in England in the fall of 2007. Huie taught in public schools for almost seven years in North Carolina and Virginia. Currently, he is an adjunct professor in the theatre departments at High Point University and North Carolina A&T State University, and is also NCShakes Outreach Education Director.
